KERALA SYLLABUS

The Kerala Board of Public Examination (KBPE) is an educational body that conducts examinations in Kerala. It was established in 1965, to regulate intermediate and higher education in Kerala. The headquarters of KBPE is in Thiruvananthapuram. The Ministry of Secondary Education, Government of Kerala is the governing body of KBPE. 

It supervises all the public exams in Kerala such as SSLC, HSC, SSC, ALEVEL, KTET, TTC, THSLC, and KGTE. KBPE conducts public examinations for classes X and XII. Two regulatory bodies control the primary and higher secondary education in Kerala and they are:

  1. Kerala State Education Board (KSEB)- The SSLC exam for class X is conducted by KSEB.
  2. Directorate of Higher Secondary Education (DHSE)- The HSE exam for XI and XII is conducted by DHSE.

In the Kerala syllabus, the SCERT (State Council of Educational Research and Training) curriculum is followed from Class 1 to Class 10. The NCERT curriculum is followed in Class 11 and Class 12.

Class X (SSLC) and Class XII examinations are conducted for 2-2.5 hours. Each subject of the Kerala XII exam has three components; terminal examination (TE), continuous examination (CE), and practical examination (PE). The student should secure a grade of D+ and a minimum of 30% aggregate in TE, CE, and TE.
